Youth Education
Youth Education at wannseeFORUM
wannseeFORUM is an educational centre for young people and adults, where people from different population groups and spheres of living can meet to exchange views and work together, away from the routine of everyday life. The programme offers seminars and projects for young people starting at age 14 as well as further training for all those engaged in youth programmes or who work in school settings. The profile of wannseeFORUM is based on the combination of cultural and political education. The artistic work in small groups motivates the participants to find ways to address complex issues and to discover new abilities in themselves.
wannseeFORUM sees itself as interface in a municipal, state, national and European network of partners engaged in political, medial and artistic discussion and reflection. We are convinced that democracy is an integral part of everyday life. In an environment of mutual respect, we provide opportunities for public discourse on socially relevant issues.
The programme offers courses and projects for young people and courses for potential multipliers and all those engaged in youth work in the key areas of political education, the performing and visual arts, music, the new media, girls’ and women’s education, participation, gender and international exchange.
The events of wannseeFORUM are aimed in part at established groups. Other events are advertised openly. In addition to the seminar programme for young people and youth leaders, wannseeFORUM focuses especially on other guidance tasks such as counseling and support for models of youth education and youth participation. We want to inspire young people to develop and implement their ideas together with others. In the seminars of wannseeFORUM, young people are actively involved in the organisation of the seminars and assume responsibility for their success. In particular, the seminars for student representatives, the Berlin youth forums and the national academy during the Pentecost holiday are examples of successful youth involvement and participation.
The educational team consists of four full-time employees – including the director – who are responsible for the areas of Political Education, New Media, Arts Education/International Exchange.
We offer interested schools and organisations close cooperation in developing and implementing concepts.
