Civic and Cultural Youth Education
Villa Joerger on Pohlesee
The wannseeFORUM Foundation
The “Wannsee Home for Youth Work e.V.” registered society was founded over sixty years ago. From the outset, youth from Berlin, the region, and later throughout Europe and the rest of the world, have been coming together in an atmosphere of mutual tolerance and respect. Here at the Villa on Lake Pohlensee, an offshoot of Little Lake Wannsee, they become acquainted with diverse living environments, whilst learning to live and breathe democracy in the form of joint projects. In 2011, The wannseeFORUM Foundation was formed from the registered society.
Field of Work
The Foundation’s Work
The wannseeFORUM Foundation’s historic villa is located directly on Lake Pohlesee, part of the Little Lake Wannsee chain. It was constructed in 1906 on the behalf of of the banker Carl Joerger. The maintenance and restoration of this prestigious property, together with its landmarked garden for youth work, always presents a fresh challenge, and is just one of the foundation’s tasks. Donations are, of course, not simply welcome, but absolutely necessary.
Civic and Cultural Youth Education
As an institution, The wannseeFORUM Foundation represents core democratic values. It is not affiliated with any party, religion, or interest group. We stand for cosmopolitanism, diversity and equal rights for all, regardless of gender, religion, social, or cultural origins. Our unique profile exists in order to consolidate political and cultural education. The wannseeFORUM Foundation works as a cooperative partner with other institutions, both at home and abroad. We view ourselves as a reliable partner, working in committee with other establishments and organisations. Together we help to implement projects and ideas, taking an active part in social discourse and present day issues.
Conference Rooms
Interested groups and institutions can rent our rooms and conference services. The wannseeFORUM welcomes its guests to its historic villa, coach house, and modern Atrium seminar house. Experience seminars and conferences amidst an exclusive atmosphere. The expansive lakeside property features old stocks of trees, which helps to facilitate dialogue amidst nature, as well as offering relief from day-to-day stress.
