Political Engagement and Participation

In order to promote direct participation in the local political process, together with the youth, we develop forms of action and model projects with which we explore the capacity for political action.

The Berlin youthFORUM evolved from the idea of promoting young people’s involvement in the political process. It is here that youth can meet politicians, while presenting their issues and opinions in a manner of their own choosing. This could include anything from a roundtable discussion, to a theatre production, to music – the possibilities are endless. This allows for lively and exciting interaction, and helps strengthen the ideas and demands of young people in Berlin.

The wannseeFORUM also offers qualified contact partners for local children’s and youth parliaments. Together in weekend seminars, members learn how to develop common positions, as well as hone the skills necessary to present their concerns to their local councils (Bezirksverordnetenversammlung, or BVV).

Additionally, more than 60 youth from all over Germany attend our annual “Pentacost Academy for Youth Participation.”  This is dedicated to young people between the ages of 16 and 26 who are, or wish to be involved in youth participation projects. Here they can exchange ideas and experiences, discuss political issues, develop skills, and create new projects.
