From August 26th to 30th, the film seminar with students from the Queen Louise Foundation took place again this year at the wannseeFORUM: this time under the title "hin und weg" (here and gone), the motto of the current call for entries for the German Youth Film Prize. But what do young people associate with this phrase? What ideas for self-expression does this expression inspire in them?

Road movies, for example, seem like an obvious choice, and the seminar provided insights into their diverse forms. However, for the conception and realization of their own films, four small groups chose four very different approaches. You can discover them on Vimeo:

“To and from Berlin”
"Sleep journey"
"The most beautiful day of my life"
"The False Friendship"

What all the films and young filmmakers have in common is the experience of how complex, labor-intensive, and patient filmmaking is, both in front of and behind the camera and in the editing suite – this was their feedback during the Q&A session following the public presentation to guests on the last day of the seminar. Everyone also seemed to agree that they had learned a great deal – and had a lot of fun doing it!
