Berlin aims to be a smart city by 2030. But what will leisure and work look like in a networked everyday life? Which smart applications and devices will make life more convenient and pleasant for individuals and society? What will the relationship between humans and robots look like? From June 3rd to 7th, trainees from the Louise-Schroeder-School explored questions related to "Human-Machine Possibilities: Life in a Smart World.".

For example, self-driving cars could become commonplace – participants in the comic workshop visualized the advantages and disadvantages this would entail. Other workshop participants collaborated with the makers to design and create an interactive comic about a connected world.

By 2030, drones could, for example, extinguish fires and thus be of great help through intelligent programming. Participants from both workshops assembled the prototype "Feedro" and explained its functionality in a film:

Another group from the maker workshop developed an interactive quiz: "What exactly is a smart home?"

The relationship between humans and robots, questions about feelings, rules/laws, and how to interact with one another were the focus of the theater group. They addressed the results of their research and discussions in their final presentation in the form of Theatersports – in interaction with the audience: Robots and humans – who is actually in charge here?
Who is human, who is robot? This can only be determined through careful observation in the "Table Tennis" station, developed in collaboration with the multimedia workshop group, and in the "Garden" station, created by multimedia participants, as part of the "Smart Wannsee Forum" digital walk.

What will the wannseeFORUM look like in 2030 in a smart city like Berlin? In a collaborative project involving all workshop groups, ideas were developed during the introductory phase, ranging from facial recognition and a mood sensor with cake distribution to boost morale, to garden and table tennis robots. These ideas can be found in a multimedia digital walk featuring video and audio clips, drawings, and texts, which can be accessed on-site via an app by visitors to the wannseeFORUM Foundation. The multimedia workshop added further stations to the initial exploration, such as a time machine and cyborgs as lecturers.

How close the future already is was demonstrated in all workshop groups by research into current developments in technology, everyday life, politics, and society. News reports during the seminar week on data protection and smart devices such as voice assistants made everyone aware of the importance of engaging with digitalization processes. The topic remains relevant – also at the wannseeFORUM.

The seminar took place as part of the collaboration within the "Political Youth Education in the AdB" , specifically within the "Digital Media and Democracy" project group.
