During the student council seminar from March 13th to 17th, students from the Solling School had the opportunity to explore the topics, problems, and ideas relevant to their school in artistic workshops. On Monday, a large World Café session was held to clarify key questions and bring everyone up to speed.

"What makes your school special?", "What problems does it have?", "What projects is your student council already working on and what ideas do they have?", "How does your student council operate, how are meetings conducted, who moderates?"

In addition, the artistic workshops were chosen, and in the evening everyone had the opportunity to get to know each other through various games.

The black and white photography workshop developed analog photo series on various themes. For example, discussions about the possibilities of student representation and teacher intervention led to a series on freedom and imprisonment. Societal developments over time also played a role.

In the story of the comic group "Hi, Hai/ Bye, Hai", the fictional school set the wrong priorities, received absolutely no support from the school administration, and so the school was eventually flooded by sharks.

The theatre group embarked on an imaginary class trip to Lake Garda to the “Hotel dell'Orroro”, where love and hate caused trouble among the students, thus addressing gossip, bullying and exclusion.

In the podcast workshop, different generations were interviewed about their professions and their perceptions of school and learning then and now. Has the Abitur (university entrance exam) really become much easier, but the pressure greater?

In the evenings, the students were able to organize their own casino night and table tennis tournament. On the last evening, they roasted bread on sticks together around a campfire.

After the product presentations, the week was reviewed. "Teamwork!" was frequently mentioned when discussing what had been learned that week.

We look forward to next year and wish you every success in achieving all your personal and academic goals, and in not losing the courage to fight for your own ideas.

The seminar was funded by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family.
