Under the motto "Theatre and Movement," the basic drama course from the Carlo-Schmid-Oberschule (Spandau) was once again a guest at the wannseeFORUM this November. The seminar focused entirely on Schiller's first drama, "The Robbers." The students explored the tragic story of a family's self-destruction in both a theater and a dance workshop.
In intensive and grueling rehearsals led by Martin Dorr (theater) and Mo Herzinger (dance), the participants explored the questions Schiller raises in "The Robbers": What drives the two dissimilar and feuding brothers, Franz and Karl Moor? What transforms one into a sinister schemer and the other into a pillaging robber and murderer? How do violence and justice coexist? Is it possible to will good and do evil? How are guilt and responsibility intertwined? And what role does love play in all of this?
At the end of the week, there was a compelling presentation of the workshop results, which form the basis for the students' further work within the framework of their drama lessons.
