Annual training for student mentors – a successful model

2.-6.6.2014

Gutenberg School , the Immanuel Kant Gymnasium , and the Friedrich Ebert High School IMG_2688 (Large)meet for a week of training at the wannseeFORUM. After the holidays, they will serve as student mentors, supporting the new seventh-grade classes at their respective schools. It's a successful project with a lasting impact. The oldest participants are taking part for the fifth time and share their experiences with the younger ones. All three schools are well-connected and exchange information about the projects throughout the school year. At the wannseeFORUM, everyone receives intensive preparation for their role. How can I build trust with the new students and sensitively support them at school? Various workshops cover communication and presentation techniques, methodology training, conflict resolution strategies, and the fundamentals of project management. Many ideas are immediately put into practice with great creativity. Whether it's an obstacle course, a haunted house, or "breakfast TV"—the student mentors are already strong teams.
