This time, the film seminar of the Queen Louise Foundation at the wannseeFORUM focused on filmmaking at a distance. From August 31st to September 5th, 12 students explored what it means to develop and implement film ideas under the current circumstances.

At the start of the seminar, all participants were therefore thoroughly introduced to the hygiene rules due to the pandemic; this also included a tour of the building to familiarize themselves with, for example, the route.
Soon, however, the focus shifted to the actual topic: teaching and practicing the tools of filmmaking. Shot sizes, camera perspective, camera movements, and dialogue framing and their effects were examined. How does film work with the emotions of the audience? How can this be implemented in one's own film? And how does all of this work with the minimum distance of 1.5 meters and other restrictions?

Stories and storyboards were created for the 2020 theme "Black, White, Colorful." This was followed by filming and learning how to use editing software in post-production—always maintaining social distancing, yet still collaborating. Another important topic was dealing with third-party material, specifically copyright (film music) and the right to one's own image. The collaborative process resulted in two short films, which were presented to guests and sparked lively debate.
One result is that everyone involved wants to continue the collaboration between the Queen Louise Foundation and the wannseeFORUM in a film seminar in 2021 – i.e.: to be continued…

The seminar was supported by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family
