The "desk" of a computer as „Window to the world“, that the Compromises and Contradictions which highlights the extraordinary time we have experienced in recent months: On the one hand, there is the Contact ban in one's own house or apartment and on the other side the Engagement in global actions. This topic is the focus of About Resistance (interfaced), 2020 – one of the young participants in the European project „Art Works! European Culture of Resistance and Liberation“together with the artist Alessandra Ferrini developed installation. Starting next Thursday (June 18th)) this work will be in Small Museion – Cubo Garutti in the Don Bosco district of Bolzano together with Solely You It's No – the work exhibited by an Austrian working group, which is also a partner of „Art Works!“. On the occasion of the opening on June 18th the young participants from 5 pm to 6:30 pm They will be present to talk to visitors and passersby about their work. Anyone who engages in conversation or wants to view the work on site will receive a Drink voucher, which can be redeemed at Café Museion. Everyone is invited to accompany the young people on their way from Cubo Garutti to the Museion. „Also present "virtually" are the project partners and the artist Alessandra Ferrini.
About Resistance (interfaced) is the result of the collaboration between the group at the Museion (Lucia Rose Buffa, Giada Cardillo, Gessica de Oliva, Nicole Fersko, Tomas Grosello, Samira Mosca, Camilla Saiz, Abram Tomasi) and the artist Alessandra Ferrini. Based on the values universally associated with the historical definition of resistance, the work draws on the timeless relevance of this concept with its various interpretations, also in connection with the epidemiological emergency that determined the course of the project itself. The installation, consisting of a banner and a video, reproduces a computer desk as a window to the world (a role historically attributed to images), which the Compromises and Contradictions which highlights the special time we are in: The Contact ban in one's own house or apartment and at the same time the Engagement in global actions.
The Cubo also houses Solely You It's Not – a work by the group from St. Pölten in Austria together with the artist collective Ruth Anderwald and Leonhard Grond was produced. The plant consists of photographic portraits of European women who joined the resistance during World War II. The images are accompanied by a poem by the Austrian journalist. Hilde Meisel, who fought against the Nazi regime with her writings. Part of the job also includes a Audio file with voices in different languages, which repeat the title of the poem. This first exhibition will shown until August 2nd. From the August 4th to September 17th This will be followed by a second exhibition featuring works from the other participating countries. The installation by the Italian group will be shown as a traveling exhibition at the Museion in other countries – in MSU in Zagreb, at the wanseeFORUM Foundation in Berlin and at the Melk Memorial Centre for Contemporary History.
