Self-determination through one's own decisions?

# – the hashtag symbol stands for hashtag = a search term that makes topics easier to find on social networks like Twitter. However, the hashtag/hashtag has long since become a symbol for the increasing global interconnectedness. Twitter trends, measured by hashtag numbers, reveal current topics in media society – such as data retention, new and increasingly smart devices like smartwatches, or the hacking attack on the German Bundestag.

In the In June 2015, trainees from the Louise-Schroeder-School attended the seminar „Google, Facebook & Co.” to learn about digital self-determination and external control. They explored the globalized media society, created their own media, and conducted research for it. To gain different perspectives, they interviewed experts such as Martin Gottschewsky from the initiative "Lawyers Against Total Surveillance," Paula Glaser from "Jugend hackt," and Holger Krekel, a programmer who has been involved for many years (including with the Chaos Computer Club).

The participants published the results from the workshops "Staged Reading", "Live Comic", "Black and White Photography", "Audio" and "Multimedia" – after the live presentation to guests – partly on the internet in their own self-created format. Blog wasisteinhashtag.wordpress.com.
