International theatre and dance project: „Triad“

Arbeit in der Tanz-Werkstatt
Going on holiday with family or friends, or simply relaxing and sleeping in – that might sound like the perfect plan for the autumn holidays for many young people. Not so for Thirty-one young people from Germany, Poland, and Macedonia met at the wannseeFORUM between October 5th and 13th, 2013, and developed their own pieces and performances within the international theater and dance project “Dreiklang” (Triad). A diverse supporting program, including (tourist and alternative) excursions through Berlin, a visit to a hip-hop dance performance, and shared leisure activities at the venue, also provided opportunities for relaxation.

The starting point for the creative work in the four workshops was lyrical texts from around the world. The poem "Do prostego człowieka" (To the prosperous man) was particularly well-received by most participants. To the ordinary people) by Julian Tuwim. This was thematically addressed in the two theatre workshops as well as in the dance workshop. Motifs from the text, which advocates for peace and simultaneously criticizes the instrumentalization of the masses during war, were then artistically interpreted from very different perspectives: During the presentation of the results to the audience, for example, after the exhortation "You must fight for your country!", the question "Would you die for your country?" was answered with a clear "No".

In the music theatre workshop, however – probably inspired by the hazy weather – the young people opted for Charles Baudelaire's "Le Vampire" (The VampireThey created a creepy, romantic, and tragic musical. A spooky backdrop, grotesque costumes, and "vampiric" makeup gave the audience goosebumps. However, this didn't stop them from giving the young performers a rousing round of applause at the end of the show.

After fully enjoying the success, it was unfortunately time to say goodbye – but also to make plans for a reunion soon!
