"Your decision will ruin millions of futures."
September 20, 2023 is World Children's Day. But it is also the day on which the Bundestag is scheduled to debate the planned reduction of the Federal Child and Youth Plan (KJP) by one-fifth.
The foreseeable cutbacks range from reduced access to political education, sports, and youth associations to the closure of safe spaces, youth facilities, and diverse places of participation, curiosity, and enjoyment.
In short: The planned cuts will ruin the futures of young people!
To prevent this, the initiating group, consisting of DBJR, AdB, BKJ, dsj, AGJ, BAG OKJE and GEMINI, on all national providers of child and youth welfare to participate in a demonstration under the motto "Your decision will ruin millions of futures" on
Wednesday, September 20, 2023
from 10:30 am
from Berlin Central Station
We are taking to the streets together to protest the massive cuts to the federal government's child and youth plan. At the same time, the Bundestag's Committee on Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth is debating the draft budget (Budget Item 17) – an important moment to warn of the impending, profound impact on the lives of young people.
The demonstration march begins at 10:30 a.m. at the main train station, proceeds along the government district through the Brandenburg Gate, past the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Federal Ministry of Finance. The demonstration concludes with a final rally at Potsdamer Platz, where at 1:00 p.m. we will hand over the baton to representatives of the volunteer services, who are also demonstrating against the threatened massive cuts.
We ask all organizations that work for and with children and young people to participate widely and to disseminate this information within their own structures and civil society.
