The Open Monument Day was a resounding success for us! Around 150 inquisitive visitors received friendly and expert guidance and generously responded to our request for targeted donations. In the end, €135.50 was collected in our newly acquired donation box! This will allow us to enable two young refugees to participate in our courses. We will report on their progress later. – A big and heartfelt thank you also goes to the building team, who were such friendly and caring hosts. – See you again in 2016, when we celebrate our 65th anniversary!

The team (Heinz Blumensath, Uta Denzin, and Susanne Müller), with excellent support from other staff members, will lead tours and answer questions about the building's history, its past, and its current work.
A slideshow in the reception hall will offer a glimpse into what the building means today for the young people and the permanent and freelance staff. The current situation in Berlin has also prompted us to take action: Visitors will be offered free coffee and cake, and the foundation requests donations so that we can, within our means, include young refugees in our political and cultural education courses. Children who come with their parents and often get bored at such events can explore the grounds and, if they have a smartphone, access additional information via the QR codes distributed throughout the premises. For games, there's a foosball table in the basement and the mysterious hollows beneath the large beech trees.
