a few insights into the history and tradition from which new things grow:

  • History: How it all began: Pentecost Academy Youth Participation in the Wannsee Forum By Michael S. Rauscher, Lecturer in Political Education 2000 to 2010

Since its founding in 1951, the wannseeFORUM has made it its mission to awaken and maintain young people's interest in civic engagement. It is part of our political conviction that a vibrant democracy needs engaged citizens.

The activities undertaken in the context of the European Commission's White Paper on "Youth Policy in Europe" were a milestone on the way to a broad understanding of democratic participation for young people.

As organizers of the 1st German Youth Conference, we established contact with numerous socially engaged young people throughout Germany. It became clear that an exchange across municipal and state borders was fruitful and desired by the young participants. Subsequently, the idea of a regular "Pentecost Academy for Youth Participation" was successfully implemented at the national level.

Since 2000, we have successfully organized, among other things, the following events:

  • 1st German Youth Conference in June 2000 at the wannseeFORUM
  • Pentecost meeting on youth participation: “Concretization and networking of youth participation projects and initiatives” in June 2001 at the wannseeFORUM
  • Pentecost academies on youth participation from 2002 to 2020

A hero in a white coat? An interview with a doctor

Daily direct contact with the people hardest hit by the coronavirus infection; 80-hour work weeks with exhausting protective measures to avoid infection; people applauding from their balconies in gratitude – what does the coronavirus pandemic do to a doctor working in intensive care?

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Ilayda, 22, apparently conducted an interview with a doctor.
