English: On the night of May 8-9, 2020, the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War was commemorated. The project ART WORKS! European Culture of Resistance and Liberation, initiated by the Austrian association HASENHERZ and the wannseeFORUM Foundation Berlin, and situated at the intersection of artistic, cultural, and historical-political youth education, celebrated this occasion with a digital youth exchange with participants from four European countries. These included youth groups from the Melk Centre for Contemporary History in cooperation with the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (Austria), the wannseeFORUM Foundation Berlin (Germany), the MSU Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb (Croatia), and the Museion Bolzano (Italy).
The films can also be seen in exhibitions at the project sites.
The first exhibition, "Art Works! European Culture of Resistance and Liberation – Kleines Museion" (Cubo Garutti), opens on August 4, 2020, in Bolzano, featuring works by the young participants.
The project was funded by: erasmus+/Youth in Action; Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family; National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism; Future Fund of the Republic of Austria, KiöR Art in Public Space Lower Austria and the Viertelfestival Lower Austria.
Our project ART WORKS! is one of the Council of Europe's examples of good practice in youth policy and youth work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
