From October 12th to 17th, 2020, the German-Cuban dance exchange "Hip Hop meets Rumba" took place at the wannseeFORUM Foundation. Berlin hip hop met Cuban dances. The HaBer Project eV an exchange between Berlin and Havana every year. Due to the pandemic, this year's format was different.
Unfortunately, dancers from the urban dance scenes of Havana and Berlin were unable to visit each other in 2020. Instead, young people from Berlin's urban dance scene spent five days exchanging ideas about their cultural and dance backgrounds.

They participated in workshops in hip hop, rumba, Colombian dance, and other styles. Based on the workshop results, the young people, together with a hip hop dancer and a dancer specializing in Cuban styles, developed a performance.
The aim of the exchange was to unite dance styles and simultaneously explore Cuba in connection with Berlin. Part of the team consisted of coaches who had personal experience with dance exchanges in Cuba or had even lived there. They shared their impressions and brought Cuba a little closer to the young people. Video contributions from dancers in Cuba fostered a sense of exchange. During this week, the project participants took time to learn more about current circumstances in Cuba and to reflect on their own privileges.
Despite the restrictions of 2020, a meaningful exchange was successfully organized.
