Our everyday lives are becoming increasingly digital. This offers new opportunities, for example, for collaborative learning and cooperation. However, it also raises many challenging questions that require an intensive examination of digitalization and society. This is also true in the field of education. Therefore, in the seminar "Trial & Error – Learning and Living in a Digitalized Society," student teachers explored a wide range of aspects of this topic from December 9th to 13th, 2019.

What motives and interests lie behind hate speech , and what strategies can we develop to combat it? The Staged Reading workshop group grappled intensively with this difficult topic and developed their own texts on the subject. In the performance "Do you fight fire with fire?", they staged these texts, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. Prior to the performance, a trailer was created in collaboration with the Multimedia workshop group, offering a glimpse into the production.

"The Health Background of Media Addiction" and "Media Dependence" are among the blog's main themes. In "Intelligence, Consciousness, and Memory in Digital Worlds" and "The Benefits of Artificial Intelligence," participants explored AI. While developing the blog, the group practically tested digital collaborative tools such as WordPress. Other services that facilitate digital collaboration were also tested and analyzed. The workshop group's experiences and tips can be found on the "Tools" page.
Across all workshops, as a shared tool link list using Wakelewas . This list also includes links from the research of the other workshop groups. In addition, the multimedia group spoke with all the other workshops about their work processes and published these interviews under "Workshops." The Prezi presentation from the final presentation can also be found on the blog.

In today's digital world, the constant barrage of images plays a significant role. To explore the dimensions of the associated socio-political questions, the participants in the Black and White Photography workshop group concepts addressing various issues and implemented them using analog photography. Subjectivity of perception, self-representation and self-awareness, the manipulation of opinion through visual means, and new perspectives on the question of shifting viewpoints were some of the aspects of their exploration of photography as a medium for constructing and deconstructing reality. The group presented prints, created in their own darkroom from self-developed film, in a photography exhibition. The photo series featured in the exhibition can be viewed at digitalrealities…interview-workshop-analog-photography/

What kind of digitized world do we want? What role should digitization play, for example, in education, in a smart daycare center, or in a smart youth club? The maker workshop explored important aspects of this from their perspective – from human interaction and media literacy to data protection, e-books, and cleaning robots.

To understand digitalization, they gained initial hands-on experience programming circuit boards like Calliope and Makey Makey using intuitive programming tools such as Scratch. According to their feedback at the end of the seminar, they plan to incorporate the fun and knowledge gained from programming into their future educational work with children and young people. Visible and interactive results of their work, which could be tested in the final exhibition, include an interactive poster, a game, and a model of a smart daycare center.
