How does one become a journalist? How can one express their perception of the world, perspectives, and opinions and make them heard by others? In the seminar "Move it, say it, listen: Media City Berlin," young people and young adults from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds explored and tested media production and publication as an important means of social participation. The joint excursion in "Media City Berlin" included visits to the new premises of Alex Offener Kanal Berlin and to "camp:cypha – Freestyle Rap Sessions" at the Alte Feuerwache children's and youth cultural center. On Saturday, Mosjkan Ehrari from the New German Media Makers was a guest at the wannseeFORUM.

“…you really have to be passionate about the topics…,” advises Mischka Franke, responsible for media literacy at Alex Berlin. He gives this advice in response to Ahamd's question about the best way to become a journalist. The interview during a field trip as part of the seminar “Move it, say it, listen: Media City Berlin” from June 8th to 11th, 2017.
"Move it" represents taking action and getting to know places and people who are making a difference or connected to movement. Participants experienced Alex Offener Kanal Berlin in its new premises in Friedrichshain as such a place and a cross-media platform that gives young people in particular the opportunity to try their hand at journalism and media production. The New German Media Makers also offer new insights into journalism and media production. Journalist Mosjkan Ehrari explained their unique perspective as a nationwide network of media professionals with diverse cultural and linguistic skills and backgrounds, aiming to make diversity in the media visible and audible. She not only presented the glossary of phrasing aids for reporting and the No Hate Speech Movement project, but also provided support with practical media production.

"Say it, listen": To make one's own voice heard and to capture the voices of others, the seminar focused on audio recordings and contributions. What does Berlin sound like? The sound collage "Have you heard Berlin yet?", field recordings of the Berlin Wall or the cacophony of voices on a bus, as well as further interviews, were placed by the participants as an experiment in the sound map of Audiyou.de.
