Seminar week on student council work and sustainability at wannseeFORUM Berlin – August 31 – September 4, 2020
The aim of the seminar was to bring the topic of sustainability into schools and establish it there by activating student representatives. Young people from five schools explored sustainability issues and created artistic projects based on concrete project ideas. These projects are intended to help them bring their sustainability project ideas to their schools and implement them in the best possible way.
Four artistic workshops were offered on this topic:
- Creating memes
- Creating your own podcast
- Creation of explainer videos
- Poster design
The resulting artistic products serve as a tool to communicate the sustainability concerns formulated in the school groups to the wider school community. In addition to fostering exchange among participants, further goals of these workshops included the acquisition of new skills that can be applied in the context of school and student government.
In addition, the students attended further workshops on various topics related to student council work, such as public relations, digital tools, project management and rights under the school law.
In addition, there were 5 training modules for the adult chaperones, in which they were informed about the possibilities and rights of the student council, in order to be able to support the students in their student council work as best as possible.
The seminar is a collaboration between EPIZ – Center for Global Learning in Berlin, the wannseeFORUM, the SV-Bildungswerk and Schule ein Gesicht geben eV.
