Sixteen young people from Germany and Macedonia, all passionate about theater and dance, met for a reunion at Lake Ohrid from June 20th to 29th, 2013. The sun shone brightly, and spirits were high – whether strolling through the old town, relaxing on the beach, or participating in theater rehearsals.

The participants from Germany were warmly welcomed by host families and treated to many regional delicacies. The partner school, St. Kliment Gymnasium, provided a diverse program and rehearsal spaces. After five eventful workshop days, the young people premiered "Big City Promises – Small Town Blues" at the Ohrid Theatre. Being young in Ohrid: swimming, tourists, plenty of sunshine… but no education, no work, no prospects. A paradise? And in Berlin: metropolis, diversity, fascination. Is everything really wonderful here? Stories full of wishes, longings, defeats, and small victories unfolded from biographical material. The multilingual piece, featuring dance and song, was enthusiastically received by the audience. The performers beamed as they basked in the applause and expressed one wish above all: a reunion soon. This is already planned, as we look forward to welcoming our Macedonian partners back to the wannseeFORUM in October: http://wannseeforum.de/ferienwerkstatt/
