The theme of freedom occupied the approximately 50 student representatives from the Gutenberg School, the Nelson Mandela School, the Wilmersdorf Secondary School , and the Tiergarten Gymnasium during a seminar week from November 4th to 10th at the wannseeFORUM. Working in teams, they created black-and-white photo series on the topic, two rap pieces ("Free as a Bird" and "One Unity"), a digital photo story ("Freedom of Thought"), literary texts including a video , and the weblog Freiblock, on which the seminar results were documented, culminating in a presentation to invited guests.
Before returning to the daily school routine, a student council meeting was simulated in a role-playing exercise. This quickly made it clear to everyone what challenges lie ahead in conducting such a meeting and how to prepare accordingly. Thus empowered, we hope for successful work by the student council in the four participating schools.
