The second student mentor seminar in 2024 took place with around 50 students during the week of June 3-7 at the Wannsee Forum.
For the second student mentoring seminar, students from various schools came together to learn how to become effective mentors for the new seventh-grade classes. Students from the Ferdinand-Freiligrath-School, the Andreasschule , and the Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium split up at the beginning of the week, participating in five different workshops where they spent the next few days.
In the workshops, participants learned various methods, games, and skills throughout the week that they can use as mentors. Topics covered included communication, conflict resolution, and project planning. Participants also had the opportunity to practice leading and moderating games in front of a large group.
At the final presentation, the five groups were able to demonstrate once again what they had learned during the week. Two groups jointly acted out a discussion in which they presented a fictional project with an action plan to the school conference, weighing the pros and cons. Other groups led games they had learned, applied feedback methods, and shared their newly acquired knowledge.
