Further information

From November 12th to 16th, 2018, FSJ participants of the Turkish Federation Berlin Brandenburg met for the first time at the wannseeFORUM.

Under the seminar title "Future," the volunteers got to know each other and discussed their personal goals. The first day focused on introducing the topic and initial icebreaker exercises. These allowed them to learn more about one another and discuss questions such as "What do I expect from the FSJ?", "What challenges do I face?", and "What does my future look like after the FSJ?".
After an introduction to the structure of the FSJ, the seminar participants elected their seminar representatives and divided into project groups: Rap, Comics, and Performance.

Before the workshop activities began on day two, the participants practiced an identity molecule exercise. The volunteers anonymously shared personal characteristics with the group. This allowed them to develop understanding for their fellow volunteers and identify similarities and differences. It was an exercise that greatly strengthened group cohesion and provided a good starting point for exploring (personal) future perspectives.

After the exercise, the participants moved on to intensive work in the art workshops.
The comics group decided to create a comic about the life of "Bredie," a slice of toast. The rap group also picked up pens and paper, writing rhymes about their hopes and fears for the future. The third group drew inspiration from fallen leaves and developed a performance piece.
On Friday, the participants were able to showcase what they had been working on all week. The comics group kicked off the final presentation. In their comic, Bredie, the slice of toast, encounters various conflicts and other food items on his journey from the baker to the toaster, all of which influence his future.
After the audience recovered from Bredie's tragic end in the toaster, the rap group "Futurama" provided a fresh impetus with their live performance and music video.
The presentation concluded with the performance group, who depicted the cycle of growth and decay through the seasons, thus offering our guests room for their own interpretations.

The successful week ended with a large closing buffet and party, including a foosball tournament.

We would like to thank all the guests who attended the presentation and our audience from the Carlo-Schmid-School. We also thank the Turkish Federation of Berlin-Brandenburg for a successful seminar with motivated and engaged participants.

We hope to see you again at the next Pentecost Academy.
