When algorithms help decide – trainees discuss the role of artificial intelligence: Under the title “Digital Living? Present and future with AI!”, trainees from the Louise-Schroeder-School spent five days in April 2025 intensively examining how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing our everyday lives and our coexistence.
AI isn't just found in voice assistants, household robots, or search engines. It also influences what information we see, how we communicate with each other, and how we perceive the world. In the seminar, participants explored questions such as: How do the AI systems of major tech companies, which collect far more data than most people realize, actually work? AI systems often appear very human: They respond clearly, are always available, and give the impression of being omniscient. But what happens when such systems influence our view of the world?
Is AI changing our communication and our way of life?
What values underlie AI systems and are incorporated into the training of algorithms? How can we ensure that AI supports us in a democratic society instead of manipulating us?

The participants considered what approach is necessary for us to live fairly with AI. They critically examined its effects and risks. This also raised the question of what each individual can do to help shape the future of AI applications.
Experimenting with AI
To better understand AI, the trainees experimented with various digital services.

In the animation workshop , participants worked with the collaborative app Tagtool and image-generating AI. Together they developed visual worlds that reflected their ideas and thoughts on AI and society.

In the rap workshop, participants tested beat-generating AI and wove it together with their own lyrics to create a song. In doing so, they explored the relationship between humans and machines.
At the end of the seminar, the trainees from both workshops presented their creative results as films:
