How do you see the world, and how do others see it? How can different viewpoints, or perspectives, be made visible: your own, those of others, and also those that often remain invisible? How does an image change through new viewpoints, whether physically with a camera, mentally by empathizing with other people, or artistically through the interplay of light, time, and space?
In March 2026, young people participating in a voluntary cultural year in Berlin experimented with these and other PERSPECTIVE questions.

After getting acquainted with the venue, team, participants, and topic, the workshop continued in three parallel groups , exploring both established and new perspectives through photography and film. The resulting diverse works were presented at the end of the seminar, some of which are published here.

Text example from exercises on film conception
Day after day, I look into faces that barely seem to see me. They aren't looking for me, but always for themselves. I remain a silent observer.
Some hesitate briefly, as if afraid of what I show them.
Others come hurriedly, glance briefly at their reflection, and disappear again. Or I am scrutinized for a long time. They look for flaws, compare, doubt. I would like to tell them that I only give back what is in front of me, nothing more, nothing less.
I don't want to judge. I can't help but be honest. I show every wrinkle, every smile, every insecurity. But what they see in it isn't about me.
Sometimes I am cleaned. Then the traces of fingers, dust, and time disappear. For a moment, I am clear again, almost invisible.
And yet, I always remain the same: a silent companion who sees everything but holds onto nothing.

Political Perspective
This year, elections for the Berlin House of Representatives are taking place. For this reason, the wannseeFORUM is inviting politicians to engage in discussions with the young participants and support them in forming their opinions.
On March 18th, Daniela Billig, Deputy Chairwoman of the Green Party in the House of Representatives, Spokesperson for Culture, Monument Protection and Ecological Neighborhood Development, visited us at the FSJK seminar.
The discussion focused on art and cultural issues, for example, on cultural funding and voluntary social year (FSJK) programs.
Examples of questions included:
- "How do you plan to make cultural offerings attractive to young people?"
- "Culture in Berlin is suffering: the reason is budget cuts.
How do you intend to ensure financial security in this sector?" - "To what extent can young filmmakers benefit from the new funding for films in Berlin?!"
